Briefly explain the function and structural composition of the throttling and well killing manifold!

1. Purpose:

Throttle manifold is an essential equipment for controlling well kick and implementing pressure control technology in oil and gas wells. When the blowout preventer is closed, it opens and closes the throttle valve to control a constant casing pressure, always keeping the bottomhole pressure slightly higher than the formation pressure to prevent formation fluids from further flowing into the wellbore. In addition, if you want to close the well properly, you can use a choke manifold to release pressure and achieve soft shut in. When the pressure inside the well increases to a certain limit, it will erupt to protect the wellhead.

2. Composition and Structure

The throttling manifold consists of throttling valves, gate valves, pipelines, fittings, pressure gauges, etc. Please refer to the above diagram as well as the gate valve and throttle valve sections.

3. Working principle

When the pressure inside the wellbore increases, the fluid inside the wellbore is released by opening and closing the throttle valve of the throttle manifold, thereby controlling the casing pressure (there are three types: manual adjustment, hydraulic, and fixed). If the casing pressure is very high, spray can be discharged directly through the gate valve.
